Jan Arden Artist
Jan Arden was born in Ireland in 1959 but lived most of his life in the UK. In his childhood he lived behind Tate Britain, London and used to sit and draw and to this day he still visits the Tate for inspiration. In the 1980’s Arden spent time in the entertainment business as a dancer, singer and mime artist. He currently lives in London where he continues to create and be inspired by the landscape alongside ancient tales of other worlds, which is the main theme of his work. Arden has always tried as an artist to be true to his form and style, changing only when he felt that it was time to experiment and try a different media. The biro is his usual choice of medium but now he’s using coloured felt tip pens and coloured pencils as well. The Indigenous artists and Shamanic art of Latin America inspire Arden as well as African art in general and ancient Celtic knot work. His work has taken him on an amazing journey. He finds drawing relaxing and he really loves the journey from sketch to finished piece...it calms him and he finds it a lovely way to express himself.
