Jerry Saltz visited the Shinichi Sawada solo exhibition at Venus over Manhattan to record this short video for New York Magazine, March 2021.

In The Art Newspaper March 2021, Tess Thackra said of Sawada’s work, “Shinichi Sawada’s irresistible spiky ceramic creatures look like they might have emerged from the archeological dig of an ancient civilisation.”

On 10 March 2021, Jillian Steinhauer wrote in the New York Times listing the Shinichi Sawada solo show at Venus over Manhattan as one of three shows to check out… “They evoke other things while being unlike anything else.”

On 25 February 2021 Courtney Coffman wrote in New York Times T Magazine about the Shinichi Sawada exhibition at Venus over Manhattan being one of five things they were recommending, “a wildly imaginative bestiary that transports its viewer to a different realm.”

Mimi Chu wrote in Frieze of the eight self-taught artists in Evolving Echoing Entities in January 2021 that they , “use gestural marks, colour and repetition to cleave open hidden and unheard stories and ideas.”
