JESSE JAMES NAGEL – AN ECCENTRIC ARTIST DRAWING PEOPLE IN AT OAF
‘Four eccentric artists that I can’t stop thinking about’, written by Alexandria Deters, looks at four artists from the 2022 Outsider Art Fair in New York. Works by Jesse James Nagel on my booth caught their eye, as well as Margaret Mousseau (another artist I work with) who featured on another booth. After not being in-person for a few years due to Covid, the fair felt a real buzz and people were eager to be back around art! Read the full article, and further thoughts on Jesse’s works, through the link below.
“The drawings were a collage of faces, where strange creatures are doing odd things such as playing a keyboard while a floating head of Hitler is about to sneeze by having a red feather tickle his nose. Nagel’s work reminds me of a modern-day Hieronymus Bosch (c. 1450-1516), the Netherland artist famously known for depicting the most fantastically interpretations of religious concepts and stories.”
