Jennifer Lauren Gallery presents There’s Something in There, exhibiting three artists whose work is neither contemplated or planned and the outcome unforeseen. The energy for these automatic drawings comes from unseen forces and a compulsion to produce: each piece growing organically.
Jennifer passionately champions artists from around the world who are self-taught and overlooked, as well as artists with mental health issues and learning disabilities. She invites you to join each of these artists on their individual journey, destination unknown, with each piece inspiring you to delve deeper, searching for covert meanings or concealed thoughts. The three artists are Cara Macwilliam, Jesse James Nagel and Chris Neate.
Despite there being a similarity in the way the work begins, the outcome of each artist’s work is very different. Nagel’s work is a riot of colour with many disjointed ideas mingling together to create art that cries out for close scrutiny. Neate’s monochromatic work is in stark contrast to this, sometimes described as being full of clouds and crowds, clouds of witnesses or souls, like a gossamer, a mesh and a communication. Macwilliam’s work is delicate, free flowing and almost organic by comparison, focusing on a particular colour and featherlight in its touch on the paper.
The title for this exhibition is taken from a piece of work by Nagel depicting a black crevice within pink folds. What is in there? Visit the exhibition and find that something in every piece of artwork on show.

La galerie Jennifer Lauren présente "Il y a Quelque Chose Là-dedans", une exposition de trois artistes dont le travail n'est ni planifié ni réfléchi à l'avance et dont le résultat est imprévisible. L'énergie de ces dessins automatiques vient de forces invisibles et d'une impulsion à produire: chaque pièce se développe de manière organique.
Jennifer soutient avec passion des artistes du monde entier, qu’ils soient autodidactes et négligés, ou avec des problèmes de santé mentale et des troubles d'apprentissage. Elle vous invite à suivre chaque artiste dans leur voyage individuel, leur destination inconnue, chaque œuvre vous inspirant à creuser plus profondément à la recherche de sens cachés ou de pensées secrètes. Les trois artistes sont Cara Macwilliam, Jesse James Nagel et Chris Neate.
Bien qu’il y ait une similitude dans la façon dont l’œuvre commence, le résultat du travail de chaque artiste est très différent. Le travail de Nagel est un véritable tumulte de couleurs, avec de nombreuses idées disjointes se mêlant pour créer une œuvre qui appelle un examen minutieux. Le travail monochromatique de Neate contraste fortement avec cela, parfois décrit comme étant rempli de nuages et de foules, de nuées de témoins ou d'âmes, tel un voile, une maille et une communication. Le travail de Macwilliam est délicat, fluide et presque organique par comparaison, se concentrant sur une couleur particulière et légère comme une plume sur le papier.
