Hilke/Jean-Michel/Makoto: Love, Hospitality & Humour offers the first comprehensive look at the work of Hilke Ohlhorst (1955 - 2021). Focusing on her middle and late work, the exhibition will look at groups of works in which the artist combined the abstract and the figurative to tell of her immediate surroundings, but also of spaces in between of so-called reality. Jean-Michel Bansart (b.1986) also extends the boundaries of the figurative with something fantastic in his textile and drawing works, while Makoto Okawa (1976 - 2016) created differentiated images of his moods both with his felt 'Makoot’ figures, and in his drawings. All three artists are united by their dedication to the world and its interspaces. The exhibition is a collaboration between Geyso20, La "S" Grand Atelier, Vielsalm in Belgium, Atelier Corners in Japan and the Jennifer Lauren Gallery, Manchester, UK.
